Green Meme
Danish blogger Henriette Weber Andersen has launched a Green Meme and asked others to participate. The idea is for bloggers to answer the same set of questions relating to environmental sustainability. I’ve been happily ‘tagged’, so here we go…
What do you do in your everyday life that you would consider green ?
I ride my bike, walk, or take public transportation to work. Though we own a car, we only use it for short trips as a family and grocery shopping.
How are your surroundings supporting your green ways?
We’re lucky enough to live in a walkable area of a city with excellent public transportation. We also have lots of shops (bakeries, etc.) nearby, so there’s no need to drive for the daily necessities.
How are your surroundings standing in your way of green choices ?
By surroundings I would include society, and ours is as consumption-oriented as any on the planet. Things break, and it’s nearly always easier and cheaper to replace than to repair.
Are there any actions you want to take to create a more green environment around you?
As a communicator, I think that spreading awareness about climate change issues, both through my personal and professional network, is the most useful contribution I can make.
What is the biggest threat to the earth’s wellbeing these days?
It’s getting pretty difficult to ignore climate change. Fortunately, it seems that more and more media are waking up to the threat, though I’m not sure how this will influence people at the personal level. Is knowledge enough to change people’s ways?
Whom are you going to tag in the green meme?
